First day of O Levels 2012

Okay O levels .. An obstacle that i had crossed and faced ...The results will be released tmr, on 10 Jan 2013 .Progress of overcoming this challenge . DAY 1 was too weird for me which i had my English papers . When i reached the school , beads of perspiration was already forming on my forehead .i saw some of my friends and classmates were chatting away while others were busily reading their notes . i joined the latter as i thought that reading my notes could reduce some of the nervous cells in me . However it was a bad decision that i made ,as i started to read my notes ..i sort of discover that i had forgotten some of my important phrases

Fear engulfed my heart as i imagined myself suffered an emotion break down in the examination hall.

Panic-stricken , i took a deep-breath and attempted to calm myself down . At that moment , my chemistry teacher walked past me and made a slight comment .. "Hey why you guys look so panic , no point studying already .. just go and relax your mind " i took his advice and put my notes away
.
I went to the canteen to search for my classmates .i found them .. mostly looking quite relaxed ..(most probably finished their revisions umpteen times at home already) .As i listened to their conversations , i kept silent .Not having the mood to speak ..and my sight were glued on my watch (monitoring the time countdown to the start of the first paper )Soon, most of the students began streaming into the sports hall to assemble .

However, at this point of time , one of my friends came and asked around about the type of pens they will be using....Something popped into my mind , i opened, rummaged through my pencil case and took out my signo uniball ultra fine pen(0.38) ..i tore out one of the paper from my exercise book and scribbled something on it while heading towards the water cooler ..Sprayed some water onto it and tried to rub off the ink from the paper .As it failed , i heaved a sigh of relief .

**Morale(1) of story:Just Use ballpoint pens for national exams.. Or i should say use ballpoint pens for all your prelims to make it a habit so that when the real exams come .it will be just a familiar feeling** WE assembled , listened to words of encouragement from teachers and heads and off we go to the mph ..

Morale(2) ** try to save the trouble and use a translucent pencil case ..or just a ziplock platic bags to put all your stationary.if not the examiner will have the rights to check your pencil case** ..

Anyway for me not much trouble, they didn't really check..just asked us to open our pencil cases and they just peeped as they walked by .As i approached my seat and feeling okay .. Same environment ..Same scene but just different invigilators ..sat down ..took out my pen ...and stared at the clock while waiting for instructions. .finally the examiner told us those admin stuff .. And gave us the call to start. Immediately, I flipped over the question paper. The one word title was the first word that i am looking out for. .narrative always been my best friend since young. .it came out as FAME. .i pondered for 2 mins. .and started recalling the 10 story-lines i have pre-prepared. .finally one got me an idea of twisting it to suit the storyline i started writing. .during midway. .i thought of changing storylines but still.managed to persuade myself to.continue with that original one. I rushed finished my essay in 55 mins...leaving another 45 mins for situational writing.

But i was unsure about the spelling of a few words that i wrote in my essay. Next, i turned my attention to the part 2. I read the scenario and looked through the options. .all looked so similar in strengths.tough decision to make. But the scenario was super familiar as though i read the model essay before . Indeed, Ms Teng gave a similar essay for us to read before. I read but just cant really recall. I spent too much time thinking and left very little time to write.  sad to say i scribbled.my.way through.

My views on my paper 1 part 2 :

- All my ideas and points were very shallow

- Lousy grammar. .

- Awkward sentence structure

- Poor Organization of ideas and lack of proper planning

Haiz i really screwed up part 2 .As for part 1 just hoped that they would accept.my storyline and go easy on my spelling mistakes.. Something disgusting happened too while i was panicking. I started.scratching myself the arm area. .hence leading it to bleed when i got.home when the paper ended

All began to leave the hall and went discussing.mostly were smiles and laughter. .guess it was easy for most of them. I believed some of their hard work of memorizing essays worked. .a few even copied wholesale into their answer.

However , I think it was unfair and disgusting to do that. Yeah you can remember phrases, expressions and even storylines. But is it necessary to remember and copy down the whole freaking modal essay with almost zero.changes and editing?

Three reasons why i think it is bad

Firstly,it defeated the purpose of an ENGLISH EXAM. .might as well go to a MEMORY EXAM INSTEAD OF ENGLISH EXAM.

Secondly, i feel that it was a little bit dumb to do so. Do you think the examiners are retard?. .if you can write so beautifully for your paper 1 part 1 and come with easy and stupid grammar mistakes in paper 1 part 2.you are definitely.at risk of being discovered Plagiarism

Thirdly,; your English will never improve..even.if you are able to get into a good jc. GP IS WAITING FOR YOU..I WOULD REALLY WANT TO SEE HOW YOUR MEMORY WORK COME INTO A CRUSHING DEFEAT.

Noted no offense to those who did that , i am just expressing my views .

Btw this post was written on 9jan . It was only edited and posted today
