Dumb Rants

Attended AJC TED , a few months ago . Sharing from different type of speakers , students , entrepreneur ,agents .

All of them pointed out a question during the event ." What is your dream occupation in the future ? " ( Something along this line, cant rmb clearly).

All i remembered clearly in my mind was the sharing conducted by an Ex-Ajc Volleyballer (Ajc alumni). Humorous , tall , presentable and with a good flair in speaking .

Four things I remembered clearly : He skipped lectures and tutorials in JC .HE lost his father when he was young.Lastly he was identified by himself as one of the most successful person from his cohort that achieved this much . He was one of the youngest agent executive in the Great Eastern company . In just a duration of 5-6 years , his highest monthly income record reached a six-figure sum.

He shared something so important which enables him to achieve so much in life is by just having a CORE DESIRE .

Core desire , definition by him as something (in simpler term ) ,to have a goal in life . Yeah , we all know that , but how one is able to stick with this core desire and have an unwavering determination to fufil this desire is another question. The degree of closeness of this core desire to you is another part that contributes to the success part.

"The things that lie between impossible and possible is determination ". Yeah ! . The quote sounds very motivating right? Sadly , to obtain that determination you must willing to give up a lot of things in life . Its not mentioned in the quote too. ? Time ? Safety ? So you must be a risk-taker ?

Come on , life is just a stupid dumb irony ! No , or we people the society are the dumb ones ? Total incoherent right? We are being judged for every single shit we do . And the problem is we care about the judgements deep down in our heart (Maybe its just me) ? We are also responsible for judging others ? Why are we all have this dumb shit attitude and actions ? IS that human nature ? Who supposed to blame ? You , ? Me ? Your classmate? World most powerful person? Rant all you want and nobody gives a shit .

**Sorry for this dumb and stupid post , wanted to write about something positive such as core desire , in the end my train of thoughts went off and wrote this crap **

10 jan judgement day

I have no idea how to start on this post..i am currently awake in the middle of.night (2++am) .Having sleepless nights for the whole week partially due to all random thoughts that have been surfacing in my mind (worry for o levels results. . .flashback of memories with my friends. .wondering what they are doing in their holidays and etc) .

10 January 2013,  the judgement day for all 2012 O Level candidates. A day that i hoped that it wont never come that fast. I was.enjoying my long well deserved break when.i realised that year 2013 had already started.

Soon this date had been announced and confirmed by MOE. Everyone starts to feel butterflies alive in their stomach or preparing for.their worst.come.to.worst.scenario results. .

That day came , the whole cohort of 2012 sec4 graduates came back to CCHY and assembled in the mph for the last time . This time round ,it was Mr yap who went on to stage to announce our results . Although i felt quite disappointed at the beginning that Mr Ong didn't turn up , after hearing the cohort results being announced i felt relieved that he didn't turn up .

Our cohort performance turned out quite a big disappointment , 4G and 4H both have two students unable to qualify for JCS . The only console and improvements are the MSG OF E-maths , Physics and Core Geo from last year . Others went down .

This year the quality of outstanding students performances dropped too , no six pointers , no all A1s , only couple of 7 pointers and as long as you got 7As ,you qualify for the list . Compared to last year , really disappointing . The trend of recent years results have been an inverted V shape . Now we are on the leeward side (those students who took Geo should know what i mean)

Yap , didn't say much but i can feel from the expressions from all the teachers 'face .

okay now , let me write about myself instead of the cohort . i got a 11 for my L1R5 . It was quite close to my prediction and a bit far away from my target . During the Decs holidays , i recalled and started estimating my L1R5 according to those online answers and self-reflection of my performances . My predicted L1r5 is around 12.

MY estimated l1r5

El-b4 E n A maths-A1 PHYSic and Chem Both A2 Combined humans and core geo B3~A2 HCL-B3 or B4 Estimated L1R5 -12

This is my target target for my Os El-B3 E.Maths,Amaths.Physic-A1 Core geo ,combined humans ,chem-A2 HCL-B3 Target of Os , L1r5 -9 (single pointer)

Now for the actual results

EL - C6

Emaths .Amaths -A1

Physic -A2

Chem -B3

Core GEo -A1

Combined humans -A2

Hcl-B4

ACtual L1R5 11.(using hcl as L1 )

Note : i obtained an A1 for EXPRESS CHINESE during sec 3.

Three different sets of results and only one determines my post sec sch education

i was a bit relieved and elated upon knowing my L1R5 .

Shocking news: i scored a C6 for my English

Surprisingly,i scored an A1 for core Geography

Rest of the results , i i deserved them ..Be it an A1 or B4

Tears of sorrow started streaming down my cheeks for the C6 in my o levels results slip . I really worked hard for my English , written numerous number of essays for school and tuition teachers to mark and comment . Listened attentively in all English lessons while others are busily doing a-maths ..sci homework or practices and few even used phones in Ms Teng lessons . i attended all her remedial and supplementary lessons but exchanged for A C6 for my El results ? i admit that my writing skills sucks to the core and have a poor command of English but a C6 seemed to be too extreme for me . i have classmates who have similar results as mine in both prelims and getting A1 in the end or at least b4 . A few of my friends commented and told me , " HENG ARH , lucky you got a C6 , if you got D7 cannot go jc .." .. And those who made these comments mostly obtained an A for English .

To these friends of mine , i have an advice for you guys . " THINK BEOFRE YOU SPEAK "

Pardon me for being so direct and rude but can you guys be a little bit more considerate and careful with your words while speaking to people that didn't do that well.

Anyway , what happen had already happened . So i see no point to continue ranting further . Now the only thing i am able to do is to reflect and do some soul -searching .

Last but not least , i would really like to thank all of my teachers from the bottom of my heart . Firstly , Mr Yeo, Ms Lim and Mrs Ang for their constant guidance during GEOGRAPHY lessons . Really grateful to have three wonderful geography teachers . Next , ms Tan for emphasizing those small details to us during a-maths and e-maths lessons . A really great a-maths teacher . Thirdly , Mr Lee and Chang , both form and co form teachers / Physic and chem teachers of 4G . furthermore , i would also like to thank both 杨老师,mdem yeo geok eng and mde yeo kk for teaching me hcl . Lastly, Ms Lin Xiao Ying , okay shall do a simple thank you to you now , shall do a long write up about you next time . Really too lazy to continue typing further.

Shall end this post with MR Lee Kah Ching's 名言 .
As long as one has been consistently putting in effort and hard work into something , the reward may not come in sooner or later (maybe not in Os , not in As or not even IN UNI ).But i guarantee that it will come eventually later in life as long as one don't give up

First day of O Levels 2012

Okay O levels .. An obstacle that i had crossed and faced ...The results will be released tmr, on 10 Jan 2013 .Progress of overcoming this challenge . DAY 1 was too weird for me which i had my English papers . When i reached the school , beads of perspiration was already forming on my forehead .i saw some of my friends and classmates were chatting away while others were busily reading their notes . i joined the latter as i thought that reading my notes could reduce some of the nervous cells in me . However it was a bad decision that i made ,as i started to read my notes ..i sort of discover that i had forgotten some of my important phrases

Fear engulfed my heart as i imagined myself suffered an emotion break down in the examination hall.

Panic-stricken , i took a deep-breath and attempted to calm myself down . At that moment , my chemistry teacher walked past me and made a slight comment .. "Hey why you guys look so panic , no point studying already .. just go and relax your mind " i took his advice and put my notes away
.
I went to the canteen to search for my classmates .i found them .. mostly looking quite relaxed ..(most probably finished their revisions umpteen times at home already) .As i listened to their conversations , i kept silent .Not having the mood to speak ..and my sight were glued on my watch (monitoring the time countdown to the start of the first paper )Soon, most of the students began streaming into the sports hall to assemble .

However, at this point of time , one of my friends came and asked around about the type of pens they will be using....Something popped into my mind , i opened, rummaged through my pencil case and took out my signo uniball ultra fine pen(0.38) ..i tore out one of the paper from my exercise book and scribbled something on it while heading towards the water cooler ..Sprayed some water onto it and tried to rub off the ink from the paper .As it failed , i heaved a sigh of relief .

**Morale(1) of story:Just Use ballpoint pens for national exams.. Or i should say use ballpoint pens for all your prelims to make it a habit so that when the real exams come .it will be just a familiar feeling** WE assembled , listened to words of encouragement from teachers and heads and off we go to the mph ..

Morale(2) ** try to save the trouble and use a translucent pencil case ..or just a ziplock platic bags to put all your stationary.if not the examiner will have the rights to check your pencil case** ..

Anyway for me not much trouble, they didn't really check..just asked us to open our pencil cases and they just peeped as they walked by .As i approached my seat and feeling okay .. Same environment ..Same scene but just different invigilators ..sat down ..took out my pen ...and stared at the clock while waiting for instructions. .finally the examiner told us those admin stuff .. And gave us the call to start. Immediately, I flipped over the question paper. The one word title was the first word that i am looking out for. .narrative always been my best friend since young. .it came out as FAME. .i pondered for 2 mins. .and started recalling the 10 story-lines i have pre-prepared. .finally one got me an idea of twisting it to suit the storyline i started writing. .during midway. .i thought of changing storylines but still.managed to persuade myself to.continue with that original one. I rushed finished my essay in 55 mins...leaving another 45 mins for situational writing.

But i was unsure about the spelling of a few words that i wrote in my essay. Next, i turned my attention to the part 2. I read the scenario and looked through the options. .all looked so similar in strengths.tough decision to make. But the scenario was super familiar as though i read the model essay before . Indeed, Ms Teng gave a similar essay for us to read before. I read but just cant really recall. I spent too much time thinking and left very little time to write.  sad to say i scribbled.my.way through.

My views on my paper 1 part 2 :

- All my ideas and points were very shallow

- Lousy grammar. .

- Awkward sentence structure

- Poor Organization of ideas and lack of proper planning

Haiz i really screwed up part 2 .As for part 1 just hoped that they would accept.my storyline and go easy on my spelling mistakes.. Something disgusting happened too while i was panicking. I started.scratching myself the arm area. .hence leading it to bleed when i got.home when the paper ended

All began to leave the hall and went discussing.mostly were smiles and laughter. .guess it was easy for most of them. I believed some of their hard work of memorizing essays worked. .a few even copied wholesale into their answer.

However , I think it was unfair and disgusting to do that. Yeah you can remember phrases, expressions and even storylines. But is it necessary to remember and copy down the whole freaking modal essay with almost zero.changes and editing?

Three reasons why i think it is bad

Firstly,it defeated the purpose of an ENGLISH EXAM. .might as well go to a MEMORY EXAM INSTEAD OF ENGLISH EXAM.

Secondly, i feel that it was a little bit dumb to do so. Do you think the examiners are retard?. .if you can write so beautifully for your paper 1 part 1 and come with easy and stupid grammar mistakes in paper 1 part 2.you are definitely.at risk of being discovered Plagiarism

Thirdly,; your English will never improve..even.if you are able to get into a good jc. GP IS WAITING FOR YOU..I WOULD REALLY WANT TO SEE HOW YOUR MEMORY WORK COME INTO A CRUSHING DEFEAT.

Noted no offense to those who did that , i am just expressing my views .

Btw this post was written on 9jan . It was only edited and posted today
